Played early in the morning on 5-24. I usually play 5-6 rounds a year here, because they're in the golf pass book that I always buy. The course was in very good shape for the spring, with greens running fast and true, and fairways looking good. The design of this course after hole 5 is interesting and varied. I've always thought that holes 2-5 are a little repetitious. But, after hole 5 I always enjoy the lay-out. My only complaint is that the rough was a little long for my liking. On one hole I hit a 100 yard wedge just 4-5 feet left of the green and couldn't find the ball in the high rough. Ugggh. Shorter rough speeds up play for us hackers as well. Some of the bunkers were hard and lacked sand, but crews were out during my round working on them. All in all, I'd recommend Cooks as a very good and enjoyable course to play.
